Extraordinary young performer Jason Cozmo hosted a fine show at Cherry's on August 12, presenting as guests terrific young, bearish singer Blake Evan Sherman and our own Ginger Moore, Miss Fire Island 2005. Heaven served as DJ.
As Julie Andrews as Maria von Trapp, Jason offered a medley-sometimes a sing-along and sometimes a dance-along-of the title song from "The Sound of Music," "Do re mi," and "My favorite things." He drafted, as drag backup dancers, Brett, Ooofaaa and birthday boy Chuck as "Honey-buns" to his Ensign Nellie Forbush for a riotous recreation of the number from "South Pacific." And he concluded with the Vitameatavegamin commercial from "I Love Lucy," a tour de force.
Dynamic rocker Blake, someone we're sure to hear much more from, assured that he is "Hard to handle," told us about his "Sunday Morning," irresistibly invited "Pour some sugar on me," and wound up with his own trio of trashy drag backup dancers.
Ginger wowed us once more with "There'll be some changes made" and "These boots are made for walkin'."
