On December 23, Cherry Grove Community Association, Inc. President Diane Romano reported that Michael Peskoff, Cherry Grove resident for more than 60 years, had passed away on December 22 in Colombia, South America, during a vacation with Grove friend Freddie Machado. Tom Holden, Michael’s longtime partner, with whom he lived in the Grove and on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, predeceased him.
Michael, Diane noted, had been an interior decorator, who painted and gardened in the Grove, during his retirement. He was also well-known for wearing caftans with flair and had founded the free book exchange outside the Fire Island Market in the Grove.
