Formerly of Cherry Grove, Richard LaFrance, director of the Island Repertory Theater Company, passed away on September 6 at the age of 84, according to Cherry Grove Community Association, Inc. President Diane Romano. He directed his company in many plays, including “Sordid Lives” and “Vagina Monologues,” as well as a single production for the Arts Project of Cherry Grove, Paul Rudnick’s “Jeffrey,” in 2000. His publication was As the Grove Turns and he was predeceased by his husband, Richard Fenn. They lived in the house Nacho Men on the west side of the Grove.
