On August 7, the community gathered at Top of the Bay restaurant to celebrate the birthday of Linwood Matthews, who would become a nonagenarian the following day. There were wonderful hors d’oeuvres and a big crowd of friends and neighbors. When Linwood spoke, he acknowledged the celebrant who would share his birthday the next day, Amy Beth Rosen, and the one whose birthday it actually was, the bartender Rob Russin. We then sang “Happy Birthday” to Linwood and the others.
