On January 22, the Cherry Grove Community Association, Inc. informed Grovites that Charles Jacob Young, who lived on Main Walk, where his housemates were Ray and Angelo and the late James Hughes, had passed away on January 7. James was born in Harleyville, South Carolina, on June 14, 1939, and in addition to Cherry Grove, lived in Manhattan.
Charles started his own furniture upholstery business, CJ’s, in Brooklyn in 1983, then moved it to Manhattan, and his clients included healthcare centers, architectural firms, real estate agencies, and restaurants. He is survived by many family members, as well as his friends and neighbors in the Grove.
His funeral took place on January 21 at Brown and Son Funeral Home in Saint George, South Carolina.
