At the end of May and beginning of June, Out in Sayville events were held in Sayville and in Cherry Grove.
Grove festivities began on May 31 with Pride Alliance of Long Island's (PALI) silent auction, at Cherry's, benefiting Thursday's Child, the AIDS advocacy and care organization, based in Patchogue. Auction items included gift baskets of Godiva, Absolut and Starbucks products, pet supplies, erotica, games, and a lithograph by Wyland, of 'Whaling Walls' fame, netting the organizations more than $900.
PALI and the Fire Island and Long Island Film Festival presented "Drag-A-Go-Go," featuring Long Island and local talent, at Cherry's that evening. With Madison Mansfield hosting, Miss Out in Sayville 2008 Gina Marie Versace, Stasha Storm, Wonder Robbie, Victoria James, and the Grove's Jo Jo Gerard and Heaven performed. Susan Levine served as DJ.
As part of a poolside show at the Grove Hotel, on June 1, hosted by Ariel Sinclair and Gina Marie, with Chuck as DJ, three teams of lithe young men, in underwear, engaged in competitive lube wrestling, involving some rather intimate-looking holds, to the tune of "It's Raining Men," under the aegis of ID Lubricants. Contestants' tips went to Thursday's Child and, of the teams of Brandon, the hotel lifeguard, and Will, Kevin and Pete, and Drexel and Austin, the first were declared the winners, having collected $81 in tips. Ariel also conducted a Chinese auction for a basket of ID Lubricants, which Vinnie Grucci won.
