Miss Sweetie & Gusty Winds
Miss Sweetie and Gusty Winds have been performing at Cherry's late on Sunday nights and I caught up with them on July 27, when magic and mysticism were themes threading through many of their numbers. Heaven served as DJ.

Having braved the elements to reach Cherry Grove on this stormy day, Sweetie opened with a euphoric "Aquarius," from "Hair." Excitement and fancy choreography were in order for Gusty's "I Could Have Danced All Night," from "My Fair Lady," and "The Big Time."

Sweetie mystically evoked the spirit of Stevie Nicks' "Brianna" and declared, of a lover's two-timing, "Baby, I don't want to know." Gusty was Ursula the Sea Witch, plotting and gloating, in "Poor Unfortunate Souls," from "The Little Mermaid."

Renée Flaming put in a guest appearance asserting, "I'm a W-O-M-A-N" and, from "Funny Girl," warning, "Don't Rain on My Parade."

In country mode, Sweetie pleaded for safety on the road with "Jesus, Take the Wheel," then continued the 'magical mystery tour' with a hot "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds." In this vein, Gusty described her wondrous "Dreams" and, in her encore, "Total Eclipse of the Heart," extended the stage for her "falling apart" to encompass the Cherry Grove dock.
