The Concerned Women of the Grove (CWOG) held their annual Breast Cancer Benefit, always a highlight of the summer, on August 4 on the lavish grounds of Heaven’n’Earth, home of Diane Romano and Patricia Goff.

Beneficiaries were, as in previous years, the Stonybrook Center for Breast Cancer Research and Gilda’s Club New York and representatives of both organizations made speeches, expressing gratitude and informing of updates in treatment.

A show, hosted by Donna Piranha, was a high point of the afternoon, and Donna began it with “Let’s Get Loud” and, in memory of Whitney Houston, “I’m Every Woman.” Statuesque and glamorous Viva Sexx’s song was Donna Summers’ “Last Dance”—items autographed by Houston and Summers were among those in the silent auction. Mary Ooofaaa offered “My Life” and Nikki Starr, a Cher number. Dramatic soprano Shirley Ritenour sang a rousing a cappella “God Bless America.”

After auctioning off a Samsung television, worth $1,700, on stage to raise further funds for CWOG, with Michael Moran making the winning bid of $2,000, Donna concluded the show, as is her tradition, with “Proud.”
