The annual Arts Project of Cherry Grove (APCG) Casino took place on July 27 and the theme of this ‘enchanted evening’ was “South Pacific,” which meant many volunteers and attendees in sailor suits, grass skirts, Hawaiian shirts, and other garb evoking the classic Rodgers and Hammerstein musical and the exotic south sea islands.
According to Casino coordinators and APCG Board members Matt Baney and Troy Files, invaluably assisted by Francine Sardone, the event’s card games, roulette wheels, and other games of chance drew 220 members of the community and visitors to the historic Community House and grossed $4,615 for APCG.
APCG President Thom “Panzi” Hansen said that this may be APCG’s last Casino.
Afterwards, volunteers enjoyed an Italian repast from Cherry Grove Pizzeria and Restaurant and a ‘Casino’ lemon cake baked by Phil “Philomena” Stoehr.
