The Cherry Grove Archives Show, curated by Lee Sharmat, with the assistance of her spouse Clara Bogetti, took place at the Community House on August 24 and 25 and was billed as “Celebrate! 65 Years of the Cherry Grove Community House & Theatre.”
This compelling display of Grove treasures, along a timeline from 1948 to the present, included memorabilia of Bob “Rose” Levine and Richie “Bella” Iorio, which both were there to explain, and of former Fire Chief Lyn Hutton, Bill “Billie Ann Miller” LaMonica, and the late Postmaster Jeanne Skinner, Archivist and Archbishop Harold Seeley, Dr. Glen Boles, Maggie McCorkle, and Kay Guinness.
There was also an exhibit of memorabilia of the now less-well-known Mary and Bill Ronin, featuring not only vintage photographs, but also Mary Ronin’s color footage from the late 1940s, showing a drag softball game on the beach, a ‘baby parade’ of Grove children, the seaplane that traveled between the Grove and New York City, the Community House, and Arts Project functions, with Carl Luss guiding us through it all.
