One highlight of Labor Day Weekend 2012 was the Toga Tea at Hi-Fidelio, benefiting the Arts Project of Cherry Grove (APCG), and Roland Michely and Joe Anania held a 2013 edition of the fundraiser on September 1, which brought out most creative use of bed sheets, bath towels, and the like to make costumes evoking an atmosphere of antiquity. Philomena made the tasty hors d’oeuvres, salads, meats, and desserts. Many of us sang with Dan Daly at the venerable Steinway piano, including Ron Roy Johnson, Rosemary Palladino, Mike Schaeffer, Russ, Richard, and myself, and for the grand finale, Bob “Rose” Levine singing “They Say That Falling in Love Is Wonderful” and “New York, New York.” There was also a raffle of two pairs of tickets for Tennessee Williams’ “Two Character Play,” off-Broadway, to benefit APCG, courtesy of Ron, the play’s producer.
