Amun Ra (born in Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey on September 18, 1999) and Ramses (born in Northfield NJ on February 2, 1996) Williams-Boruchowitz-Gelbert-Saporito, beautiful, beloved, and affectionate silver-and-black pet cats of the Egyptian Mau breed, of Cherry Grove, Fire Island, and New York City, passed away in Brooklyn on December 18, 2013 and January 25, 2014 respectively.
Ramses, AKA Ram or Rammy, and Amun Ra, AKA Moon or Moonie, lived in Cherry Grove and Chelsea, with the late Philip Williams until his passing in May 2007 and with his surviving partner Peter Boruchowitz until July of that year, and thereafter in the Grove and Park Slope, with Bruce-Michael Gelbert and Joseph R. Saporito. Egyptian Maus are the only naturally leopard-spotted domestic shorthairs.
Moon and Ram developed tumors, Moon’s abdominal and Ram’s pulmonary, shortly before their deaths. Their ashes will be scattered in their backyard in Park Slope and in the Atlantic Ocean in Cherry Grove. Both had participated in the ceremony of the wedding of Bruce-Michael and Joe, with Peter officiating, in the Grove on September 17, 2011. We will miss them sorely.
