For its pre-summer season 2014 In-Town Party in New York City, the Arts Project of Cherry Grove took us to Lips Restaurant on March 9 for “Broadway Brunch,” complete with a show hosted by Ginger Snapt and featuring a number of Fire Island favorites.
With our Eggs Benedict and Mimosas, we had Ginger, Blackie O, and Lauren Ordair doing “Gotta Get a Gimmick” from “Gypsy;” Morgana Royale doing “Push the Button” from “The Color Purple;” Ginger’s “Good Morning Baltimore” from “Hairspray” and ‘Little Orphan Tranny’ looking forward to “Tomorrow;” Blackie O’s number from “Smokey Joe’s Café;” Lauren’s athletic “I’m Fabulous” from “Sister Act;” Ginger’s “Don’t Cry for Me Argentina” from “Evita” segueing into “Vogue;” Empress’ “And I Am Telling You I’m not Going” from “Dreamgirls;” and as the grand finale, Ginger as Elfaba and Chandelier as Glinda dazzling us with “I Hope You’re Happy … Defying Gravity” from “Wicked.” Gusty Winds was responsible for lighting.
