Ariel Sinclair, celebrating the 20th anniversary of her Fire Island debut, hosted the second night, May 10, of opening weekend at the Ice Palace. DJ Chuck McTague was responsible for music, lights, and sound.
Ariel, who will again be hosting Kamikaze Kabaret here on Thursdays, opened with a “Call Me Crazy”—parodying Carly Rae Jepson’s “Call Me Maybe”—mash-up. Brandon Cutrell, who hosts Broadway at the Beach on Monday nights, beginning on June 2, and Twisted Trivia on Tuesday afternoons, starting on June 3, smoothly sang “Feeling Good,” with a hummed verse of variations, and “When Will I Hold You Again?” ‘Nightlife icon’ Kenny Holcomb sang a dramatic “Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me” and followed it up with “Neither one of us wants to be the first to say goodbye.”
Porsche sang “(What’s in a) Fireball?,” in honor of the new, strong, cinnamon-flavored Ice Palace drink, and took us back to the psychedelic ’60s with “White Rabbit” and “Me and Bobby McGee.” Logan Hardcore did Beyoncé and she and Ariel hosted a modeling/talent contest, which young dancer Jackie handily won.
Ariel, Porsche, and Logan joined forces for “’Cause I’m a Woman” for a grand finale.
