n June 1, loved ones, friends, colleagues, and Cherry Grove and New York City neighbors of late POZ magazine comptroller Dennis Clayton Daniel (January 19, 1959 in New Orleans to November 23, 2013 in New York) joined Dennis’ life partner of 23 years, composer, conductor, and pianist Ken Lundie, and housemates at the Green Door, on Ivy Walk, for a memorial at home, on beach, and at Cherry’s.
The assembled shared reminiscences of Dennis, at work, in travels, at parties, at Mardi Gras, and at the bars in Cherry Grove, and listened to friends sing “For Good,” from “Wicked,” and “Ladies Who Lunch,” from “Company,” in his memory.
We repaired to the beach to listen to Ken read the eulogy, scatter rose petals and Dennis’ ashes at the shore, and hear one more song, “The Wind Beneath My Wings,” from “Beaches,” before continuing on to Cherry’s.
Our condolences go to Ken and all of Dennis’ survivors. Dennis, we’ll miss you.
