Ariel Sinclair, celebrating 20 years at the Ice Palace, began her season of Kamikaze Kabaret on June 5, with DJ Chuck McTague assisting on music, lights, and sound.
Cowgirl Ariel, in pink and black, opened with a Country/Western song, telling us what she likes in a man, and asked, in a later sultry number, “Am I the one that you love?” Her guest Taylor Rockland, continuing the pink-and-black theme, contributed an interactive mash-up that included “Extraterrestrial” and “Starships” and later appeared in a body stocking, sheer blouse, and a “Parental Advisory” warning sign.
Featured comics were Robin Lakin, who entertained by sharing stories about her family, and Helaine Witt, who spoke of her gay childhood boyfriend and joked about the tough neighborhood that she taught in.
Marissa Pontecorvo, who made her Fire Island debut on June 2, at “Broadway at the Beach,” brought down the house singing “Titanium” and “When Love Takes Over” and, accompanying herself on the Privia, Blondie’s “Heart of Glass,” original song “Letting Go of Perfect,” “A Thousand Miles,” and her take on Michael Jackson’s “Beat It.”
Ariel conducted a ‘red-hot modeling contest’ and closed with favorite anthem “My Vagina Is Eight Miles Wide,” with avid audience participation.
