David Bullock, longtime Cherry Grove resident who with his husband Tim Webster owned Finistere on the far west bayside of town, died yesterday at this home in Baltimore after a long illness. David was active in many Cherry Grove activities for most of his decades here, serving on the Property Owners Association, Arts Project and the Save Our Community House campaign and its earlier incarnation, Community House Improvement Committee (CHIC). In 2009, he was awarded a CGCAI Community Honors Award for his years of service. David cut a unique figure, one that was both elegant and acerbic, and took part in many Homecoming contests, invasions and general activities. One year, he and Tim appeared as the infamous Flamenco Queens Dona-Ask and Dona-Tella, and as a lady-in-waiting to Queen Timothea among other high-WASP get-ups. David was born in Mobile, Alabama but went to high school in New Orleans. He lived in New York City since 1960 before he and Tim decided to settle in off-island digs in Baltimore. In 1967, he and his then-partner Bill Evans began renting in Cherry Grove. Bill died in 1990 but David stayed on, finding Tim here. They married in 2004 in Toronto, one of the first gay couples in Cherry Grove to do so. We will miss him.
If you wish to send condolences to Tim, contact him at Tim Webster, 305 Ilchester Avenue, Baltimore, MD. 21218. Please make donations in David's memory to the CGCAI Save Our Community House campaign.
