n August 16 and 17, at the Community House, under the aegis of the Arts Project of Cherry Grove (APCG), photographers Susan Kravitz and Diane Quero displayed their historic, mostly black and white photographs of Cherry Grove, Susan’s dating back to the late 1970s and Diane’s to the late ’80s. Grove Invasions of the Pines, APCG theatrical shows and gala balls, and community individuals and scenes were Susan and Diane’s subjects.
Many of those featured in the photos were present and named the shows that the scenes were from, as well as the other people that were in Invasion and show pictures, some of whom even the photographers did not know, and that was exciting commentary to be present for. Some familiar figures were recognizable in photos taken of themselves 20 or 30 years ago and others had to be identified by the photographers or their subjects.
Among those finding themselves and others whom they knew in these photographs were Susan and Ruth Freedner, Bob “Rose” Levine, Thom “Panzi” Hansen, Bobby “Cobra” Scherffius, Rae DiStefano, Dominic “Mae Bush” De Santis, Audrey Hartmann, Lynne Tunderman, and Francine Sardone. Among those who have left us that were in the photos were Teri Warren, Peter Wirth, Maggie McCorkle, Dixie Thomas, and Belvedere’s John Eberhardt.
