The 69th annual Arts Project of Cherry Grove (APCG) Art Show, at the historic Community House, took place on August 5 and 6 and included work by local and visiting painters, photographers, and artists working in glass, ceramics, and other materials.
Homecoming Queen Ginger Snap and APCG President Thom “Panzi” Hansen chose favorite works and respectively awarded them the Queen’s ribbon, to Ray Bagnulo’s photo “Love, Cherry Grove,” depicting the large rainbow flag, by Gilbert Baker, and American flag, flying over the dock, with the ferry seen between them, and the President’s ribbon, to Steven Menendez’s nude photo “Beau at the Belvedere,” the first print of which was displayed at Leslie-Lohman Museum of Gay and Lesbian Art, in Soho. Another of Menendez’s models, Brian, joined him to pose for photos with Menendez and his work.
Also displaying their art were Fire Island Artist Residency artists Elizabeth Insogna, Charan Singh, Marta Lee, Rodolfo Marron III, and Vincent Tiley and coordinator Chris Bogia; painters Cathy Eckdahl, Sharon Way-Howard, Larry Crawford, John Mansueto, Todd Yeager, Jack Dowling, Bill Fullham, and Dennis McConkey; additional photographers Warren Boyd Wexler and Lorraine Michels; and other artists Martinu Schneegass, Michael Abdis, Mark Atten, and Lloyd L. DesBrisay.
