Cherry’s presented its annual festive early Christmas show on September 16 and a highlight was a wild show by reigning Cherry’s divas Homecoming Queen Ginger Snap, the inimitable Hedda Lettuce, Miss Cherry’s Boudoir LeFleur, and newcomer Kimmi Moore. Tommy Bruno served as DJ.
Ginger opened with an energetic, snow-fueled “All I Want for Christmas Is You.” Kimmi gave us an up-to-date mash-up, with high kicks and “death drops” to the floor. We found Ginger querying, “How Will I Know?” and Boudoir and Kimmi linking “Do What You Want (with my body)” and “Telephone,” communicating via tin cans and rope, for some added bondage. Ginger, Boudoir, and Kimmi joined forces for a dynamite “Bang, Bang (into the room),” which found Ginger jumping up into Kimmi’s arms.
Hedda opened with “Hedda the Big-Boned Drag Queen (you’ll go down on anything),” her version of “Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer,” as she raided the Christmas tree for costume ornaments. “Let’s Do Blow” (“Let It Snow”) and “Frosty the Snowman,” with sing-along, were her season-appropriate tipping songs.
Portraying Angelica Schuyler, her sister Eliza, and Alexander Hamilton, Ginger offered “Satisfied,” as a tour-de-force wedding toast and reflection, from “Hamilton.” Boudoir and Kimmi closed with a mash-up in which “bitch” was the recurring theme—“Wrong Bitch,” “I’m a Bitch,” “Bow Down (bitches),” and “Bitch Better Have My Money”—complete with sparklers, cartwheels, and Boudoir carrying Kimmi around the bar.
