You may not know her name right off but, if you've spent any time in Cherry Grove, you probably know her voice and one of her songs. A few years ago, after Storm Large made her New York Pops debut, at Carnegie Hall, singing in the Pops' Frank Sinatra centennial tribute concert, she and I discussed drag performers who have embraced her song "Eight Miles Wide," something she was already aware of, and I told her about Ariel Sinclair, who has made the song virtually standard repertory in the Grove and because of whom I knew about Storm Large. On March 15, the singer returned to Carnegie, to sing in the Pops' salute to the Silver Screen. Ariel came as my special guest and, after the performance, I got the two of them, who seemed to hit it off very well, together for a photograph.
