Pianist and singer-songwriter Dan Daly, fresh from playing Cole Porter’s piano at the New-York Historical Society’s “Stonewall 50” opening celebration, made his seasonal return to playing and leading sing-alongs at Sand Castle restaurant on May 24. Singers Mike Schaefer (“Bring Him Home” and “Shadow of Your Smile”), Jill Conklin (“Don’t Cry for Me, Argentina” and “Unexpected Song”), Tony Negron (“My Funny Valentine” and “Besame Mucho”), Russ Martin (“Route 66”), Nika (“We Are the Champions”), and me (“L-O-V-E,” “Beautiful Girls” and, with Dan, “Old Fashioned Wedding”) came to sing, Mike led us all in joining voices for “What I Did for Love,” and Bill and Angelo, Barbara and Marilyn, Ray and Angelo, Bob and David, and Russ’ “brown-eyed girl” Anita, whom he serenaded, were among those there to support us.
