On August 25, colleagues, family, and friends gathered at the Ice Palace to help Ariel Sinclair celebrate the 25th anniversary of the start of her reign there. JRoc served as DJ for the festive show.
Victoria Falls, dressed like Ariel in shiny lavender, began the festivities with “If You’re Happy and You Know It.” Lee Sharmat, in her drag queen persona, sang “Big Spender,” from “Sweet Charity.” Androgyny, copiously covered in shaving cream, offered popular Ariel number “Shave Me Dry.” Saline Dijon sang Wendy Ho’s bawdy version of “Get Here,” as “Fuck Me,” and Whitney Houston’s “How Will I Know.”
Fifi Dubois offered “Call Me Crazy,” based on Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Call Me Maybe,” as she bound and gagged Ray Cruz. Brenda Dharling offered her answer to Ariel favorite “Let Me Dance for You,” complete with split, from the film of “A Chorus Line.” Patty Cake danced “(I’m a) Barbie Girl (in a Barbie World).” A visitor from Key West and from the future insisted, “Your Makeup Is Terrible,” in Alaska Thunderfuck’s song, with split. Davida Jones did “Push the Button,” from the musical “The Color Purple,” with some fancy dance steps, including splits. Porsche sang “Miss Celie’s Blues” (“Sister”), from the film “The Color Purple,” and read a greeting from bartender and comic Hahn.
There were spoken tributes from Entertainment Manager Electra, DJ Chuck McTague, and Wendy Pinkhouse. Davida returned to sing “You Raise Me Up,” while a procession of Ariel’s friends brought her roses. The show closed with the cast performing Ariel favorite “(My vagina is) Eight Miles Wide” for her, with our honoree joining in near the end.
Happy Anniversary, Ariel!
