Zola Powell, chosen by a panel of five judges, beat six other contenders for the Miss Fire Island 2019 title, at the Miss Fire Island Pageant, at the Ice Palace, on September 7. Clarice DuBois, the runner-up, was named Miss Cherry Grove and Victoria Falls became Miss Ice Palace. The others vying to become Miss Fire Island were Zoey Exquisite, Kara Sucia, the Countess Mascara, and Lady Singaga.
Boudoir LeFleur won the title Entertainer of the Year, besting Morrisette Amon; Davida Jones; Ivy Stalls; Pettie Cake, deemed most popular by the judges; Bella Noche; and Miss Fire Island 2017 Champagne Bubbles.
Billy Little won Ms. Fire Island Elite, running against Tony Homeperm.
Judges were Michael Fisher, Edward Fraser, Joanne Tavis, this writer, and Miss Pearl. Dennis McConkey served as tally judge. MCs were Miss Fire Island 2002 Ariel Sinclair, past Entertainer of the Year Porsche, and Ms. Fire Island 2010 Electra. DJs were Chuck McTague and Richard Kennedy. Keri White sang the Star Spangled Banner and Johnny Savoy’s Ballad of Miss Fire Island.
