As we ushered out 2019 and welcomed 2020, Cherry Grove “icon,” to borrow Cherry Grove Community Association, Inc. President Diane Romano’s word, passed away at age 90. He is survived by his spouse John Behan. The inimitable Mae Bush—“a chorus girl and church lady all rolled into one,” Diane wrote—and veteran of Arts Project of Cherry Grove’s “Golden Girls” shows, the Memorial Day Service, the House Blessing, the Cherry Grove Fire Department, and the Miss Monster contest, Dominic turned 90 on July 24, 2019 and we celebrated on July 21, at the Cherry Grove Community House, singing “Happy Birthday,” toasting with Prosecco or Pellegrino, and enjoying chocolate cake adored with a birthday message in the colors of the rainbow. Condolences go to John, to Dominic’s many friends, and to their Cherry Grove family.
