New York City-based Excelsior M.C. has cancelled its Lust for Life 2020 Leather Weekend in Cherry Grove, titled An Indelible Mark, which was scheduled for May 15 to 17, in light of the corona virus pandemic.
Excelsior M.C. President Sir Joseph wrote, in a March 18 email, to club members and friends:
“We are living through unsure and extreme circumstances. Our lives are on hold due to social distancing protocols in order to prevent exposure to COVID-19. Over the past few weeks it has given me great hope to see the Leather and LGBTQ+ community come together to support each other—whether it’s sharing food or even a phone call—we are here to protect each other through this pandemic.
In light of this, Excelsior M.C. needs to take a part in assuring the safety of our community. Last night, the Board met and decided to cancel Fire Island Leather Weekend 2020—an Indelible Mark. This was a difficult decision, but one that had to be made.”
Registration fees for this spring’s weekend will be rolled over for Leather Weekend 2021, for those who want it, or refunded.
