Cherry Grove has reopened for business, gradually and safely. Most of us are appropriately masked. Restaurants do not have seating yet, but are offering takeout and delivery. Island Breeze opened in April. There’s been breakfast at Floyd’s since Memorial Day Weekend. Cherry Lane and Sand Castle are open, as are Goodies, the general store, Fire Island Market, Coastal Roots, and the Grove Liquor Store. Top of the Bay opened for the season on May 29 and did a thriving takeout-and-delivery business on the first night. Cherry Grove Pizza, Sweet Licks ice cream parlor, and Rainbow Dreams await the Ice Palace sprinkler system inspection and approval before they can fully open, but the pizzeria served food from a table at the edge of its deck, chicken parmesan, sausage and peppers, penne alla vodka, and drinks, during Memorial Day Weekend; Sweet Licks has plants for sale; and even Rainbow Dreams did a little business with the store not officially open.
