The sixth annual Fire Island Bear Weekend, including the Mr. Fire Island Bear contest, has been cancelled, organizer Shane Tate announced on Facebook recently. The weekend, originally scheduled for June, was postponed until September, and is now set for June 10 to 13, 2021. "After working with the venues extensively we concluded that there is no way to safely hold this event," Tate wrote. These venues are Cherry's, Belvedere, the Ice Palace, and a private home in the Pines. "Stay safe my friends, I look forward to seeing you in 2021!" he concluded.
