Cherry Grove’s beloved Victor Alfieri, longtime spouse of Robert “Cobra” Scherffius, passed away on September 3. Robert posted on the Cherry Grove Untucked page on Facebook, “Victor had dementia & today he died 8/30/29 – 9/3/20 the love of my life.”
The couple had capped the first 58 years of their relationship by marrying on September 17, 2011, exchanging rings and roses during a ceremony, on the beach off Ocean Walk in Cherry Grove, performed by Interfaith Ministers Alison Caiola and Mr. Fire Island Leather 2002 Peter “Peter B” Boruchowitz, with Best Man Angelo Carvallo and Maid of Honor Tony Bondi at their sides. Porsche sang at the reception at the Ice Palace, with the late Bradshaw Smith videotaping the historic wedding.
Cobra had been Cherry Grove’s Homecoming Queen, escorted by Victor, in 1997 and performed, as the Card Girl, in numerous Doctor’s Benefit shows. Cobra and Victor lived on Main Walk, in Cherry Grove, for many years.
