I caught up with this welcome effort at the start of the following weekend and, with Jack Aaronson at the keyboard, heard Matt sing “And They’re Off,” from William Finn’s “A New Brain;” “Love Changes Everything,” from Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “Aspects of Love;” “Seasons of Love,” from Jonathan Larson’s “Rent;” and “Corner of the Sky,” from Stephen Schwartz’s “Pippin.” Duke sang Rodgers and Hart’s “My Funny Valentine” and I got into the act with Cole Porter’s “I Get a Kick Out of You,” from “Anything Goes,” and “Impossible Dream,” from Mitch Leigh and Joe Darion’s “Man of LaMancha.” Jack also led a sing-along of “Hernando’s Hideaway,” from “Pajama Game.” Mention must be made of the maestro’s sheep shirt, which read, “Ewe’s Not Fat, Ewe’s Fluffy!”.
