As the summer season moves into full gear this coming holiday weekend, Sayville Ferry service has updated his schedule - Early Summer - commencing Thursday May 21st. Boats will now be available late on Friday, Saturday an Sunday nights. Last Boat departing Sayville is scheduled for 12 midnight on Friday, and last ferry departing the Island on Sunday night is at 11:30 pm. SEE SCHEDULE»
Two weeks ahead of the full summer season our communities already showed signs of the summer spirit. Fire Island's summer renters started to return and got situated in their houses, and mingled among homeowners who have been on the island; some as early as of the middle of March.
We've learned Low Tea in the Pines was packed Saturday evening, and a very large crowd was present at the Ice Palace kick-off party in the Grove two weekends ago.
This past weekend, The Ice Palace hosted the annual Mr. Fire Island Leather 2009 contest. Steve Rodriguez, a Fire Island Pines resident was awarded the title of MR F.I. Leather 2009.
This coming holiday weekend, events are scheduled all over our two communities. The Pines has a very busy schedule and the Grove with its annual coronation of CG Home Coming Queen who will preside over all the upcoming events this season.
The Pines starts on Thursday May 21st., TEA with DJ Brenda Black at the Blue Whale; HIGH TEA with DJ Eddie M - view deck.
Friday afternoon, TEA with DJ Super Dave at the Blue Whale and HIGH TEA with DJ Keo Nozari - view deck; Shaquida and the Whale Show with DJ Vito Fun at the Blue Whale , and the FLASH ME FRIDAY UNDERWEAR PARTY presented by Ginch Gonch at the Pavilion.
Saturday, Fire Island Pines Arts Project presents Naked Boys Singing at 7:00 and 9:00 PM, Brandon Fradd Theatre, Whyte Hall - Up close and personal seats: $100; more demure seating: $60. Also on Saturday, TEA with DJ Corey Craig, Blue Whale; HIGH TEA with DJ Xavier and MIDDLE TEA with DJ Vito Fun. Also DJ Keo Nozari at the blue whale and DJ Twisted Dee at the Pavilion.
